Evening Primrose Oil is considered a carrier oil in the world of aromatherapy. It is a prized oil for its abundant food, health, cosmetic and medicinal benefits. In particular, Evening Primrose Oil is rich in GLA and offers a natural anti-inflammatory property making it a good oil for acne and pimples.
In a report by the Mayo Clinic, researchers gave evening primrose oil a “B” on a grading scale from A to F on the amount of evidence that supports claims it relieves itching, inflammation and flaking in patients with eczema. Its anti-inflammatory effect, evening primrose oil has been used to treat skin problems like eczema, acne and rosacea. [source: Mayo Clinic].
Because evening primrose oil goes rancid pretty quickly purchase only an amount you will use within 6 months to 1 year.
How to use Evening Primrose oil
You can apply Evening Primrose directly on your skin (remember to do the patch test first!) without dilution and when you do, you will notice that your skin will absorb the oil very quickly. However, if you have thin skin, one where it clogs quickly (get white heads) you may want to add a few drops of Evening Primrose oil to your best quality face creme and then apply this blend to your face. Same rule goes for direct application to your eyes. The skin around the eyes are even more delicate, so please test first.

Shopping for Evening Primrose Oil
I would do some homework to make sure you purchase 100% pure, cold processed Evening Primrose Oil. If you want to shop online, one of my trusted places is Mountain Rose Herbs (this is not an affilaite link!).
Remember, like all herbal remedies, evening primrose oil has not been approved by the FDA, which considers herbs dietary supplements rather than drugs. Because evening primrose oil may cause uterine contractions, it is not recommended for pregnant women. Always use organic oils and purchase from a reputable supplier of essential and carrier oils. Please read our Terms.
Thanks for the comment. What kind of fertility experts?
Dear readers, please remember that ANP's writings and comments have not been diagnosed by the FDA or Health Canada.
According to fertility experts, evening primrose oil pregnancy supplements induce the production of a certain hormone called prostaglandin. Prostaglandin is a type of body hormone that helps in strengthening the cervix and preparing the woman for child birth.
Jamie
Evening Primrose Oil Pregnancy
I have very fair skin with early eye wrinkles (I'm 33 with otherwise normal skin but probably more eye wrinkles than expected for my age). I have always looked for value in eye creams, and have tried everything from Chanel to drugstore brands. My main concern now is to use only natural ingredients! I now use the Lady Soma Renewal Serum – it is one of the best serums for the eye. I use it under concealer, which I apply immediately after. I find that the texture of serum helps to blend in the concealer so that everything doesn't gather around the wrinkles.
I do not find it too greasy for me- it seems to absorb quickly into my skin. I use it at night as well, using slightly more product for night use. I am very happy with Lady Soma for daytime use.
